Joshua Cohen has joined Kirkland & Ellis’ Investment Funds Group as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office.
Cohen’s areas of expertise include the formation, structuring and maintenance of open and closed-end private funds, including, hedge funds, private equity and credit funds, hybrid funds, fund of funds vehicles and liquid alternative mutual funds. Cohen’s knowledge also includes the Investment Advisers Act, the Securities Act, the Investment Company Act, the Commodities Exchange Act, the Bank Holding Company Act, and the Dodd-Frank Act.
Cohen was most recently managing director and general counsel for Highbridge Capital Management, and prior to that served as the global head of alternatives legal for JPMorgan Asset and Wealth Management.

Cohen’s hiring comes on the heels of several other recent hires within Kirkland’s Investment Funds Group including David King, Alpa Patel, Sean Hill and Stephanie Berdik, Erica Williams and Marian Fowler and Anand Damodaran.
